Samsung UN65NU7300 Front

The Samsung UN65NU7300 Curved 7 Series Smart TV is one of the best-priced TV’s to buy among the 4K options in the market.

It has excellent features which include UHD Picture dimming, Smart TV and remote control, 4K color drive, HDR Pro, a contrast enhancer and HEVC 4K streaming decoder.

It is available in only two screen sizes, which is 55-inches and 65-inches. In this review we are going to be specifically looking at the 65″ model, but if you are interested in the 55″ model, you can find more information here.

The curved screen is an added feature, and you end up paying a little more for that if you compare this version NU7300 with the MU7000. It does, however, add an extra appeal and elegance while giving an updated touch at this incredible price.

Image Quality

Edge-lit LED backlit LCD’s do not give the best picture technology, even if it is in 4K resolution.

The Samsung semi-clear coat screen is, however, a big plus, and the color information is entirely accurate, and the images are also very clear.

Over time, there are possibilities of a little bleed to occur, especially during the very dark scenes or when there is a black background.

Moreover, the colors are very nice and bright, and it is no surprise as Samsung as one of the brightest LEDs (peak whites) in the market place.

There is also a clear panel technology on the screen which is excellent, as it helps to absorb the ambient light.

Having a curved TV reduces the issues which are created during side viewing in LED TVs. The contrast and color saturation does fade a bit when it is being viewed from the off center but in a very subtle way.

Most people may not even notice the contrast saturation until it is 15 degree off the center. This is probably the biggest drawback of this TV when compared to OLED apart from the more vibrant colors and the deeper blacks which are found in the OLED TV’s.

Smart TV / Features

The Samsung UN65NU7300 Curved 7 Series Smart TV operation is quite fast and efficient.

Even though it does not have the Tizen OS Smart Hub of the top models but still has a similar Smart Hub suite with the same basic design. The Game tab is one of the major smart TV pages, and it even allows for individual logins so each family member can have their own settings.

This is an excellent idea for a family where there are multiple TV users. It also includes a full web browser. The quad-core processor helps to increase the speed of the functions and browsing. This is a much needed feature as an upgrade was much needed. The remote is however quite basic and straightforward for those who are not technologically inclined.

When it comes to sound quality, there is a good option for two inbuilt down firing 10w speakers. It is not a very high-quality sound system, but it gets the job done.

If you plan to get a larger model, then it is better to go for a soundbar. The TV also has a built-in WiFi and a lot of HDMI inputs, and there are two USB ports as well.

There is also the possibility of mobile to TV mirroring and for the gamers; there is the option of Game picture mode. It is an excellent TV for gamers, even though the HDR quality is average.

The remote has a basic layout, but many people prefer this for the simplicity of navigating the Samsung TV user interface.

Gaming Performance

For most people, buying a TV for gaming means they plan on using for a lot of non-gaming usage as well. While gaming on a monitor can provide the fastest and most lag-free gaming experience, TV gaming is better for multiplayer games, and when wanting to just sit back on the couch and casually game.

Another noted feature of TV gaming is upscaling. When it comes to upscaling, you get what you pay for. The more expensive the TV is, generally the better will be the scalers – because they have faster more expensive scaler chips. Even then, the Samsung UN65NU7300 Curved 7 Series Smart TV does an excellent job for the price.

Scaling is very important nowadays as most people prefer to watch TV through streaming from Netflix, Amazon and other websites or even from 720p cable. Although the TV may not be able to make so much difference as the original streaming source, but it can however, create sharper and cleaner images. This TV does a great job in streaming and presenting 720p signals as the scaler is not low quality or cheap.

As far as gaming performance is concerned on the UN65NU7300, this is an excellent TV.

With only 14ms of lag time when running at 1080p, or 13ms of lag time when running in native 4k resolution, you will be very impressed with the performance of such a large TV.

Do not forget to turn on game mode however, since gaming without the “game mode” setting on turns on many additional image processes, and the lag time goes up to somewhere in the 65ms range.

View / Ports

Samsung UN65NU7300 Rear

Ports on the Samsung UN65NU7300 include: three HDMI inputs, one component-video input (also doubles as a composite-video input), two USB ports, a digital audio port, and an ethernet port.

Overall, this TV is an excellent choice when purchasing a TV for gaming. We are huge fans of the curved display and a sharp looking design for price point the Samsung UN65NU7300 sells at.

Obviously for many, the affordable price (for what you get) is the main selling point, apart from the picture-quality reputation of Samsung.

While there are other TV‘s which provide a better picture, even from Samsung, many also come with higher Input Lag times since they have additional filters to process for the good image quality.

If you are in the market for a TV which has a good picture quality but is among the best when it comes to having low input lag for gaming, this TV will be one of your top picks.

Moreover, it has all the right features which are need from a great smart TV set to make this a great purchase.
